Previously, Xero bundled payroll into its business plans without offering the necessary flexibility for all types of businesses. This decision was made to enhance accessibility and provide greater value to a majority of users. However, Xero recognised that this model did not cater to every client, particularly smaller businesses or those with fluctuating staff requirements.

From June onwards, businesses on the Xero Ignite, Grow, and Comprehensive plans will be able to add employees at a minimal cost of just £1.50 per employee. For those on the Ultimate plan, the fee will be even lower at £1 per new employee added. This pricing structure ensures that businesses remain in control of their payroll expenses while scaling their workforce without cumbersome overheads.

Businesses that experience seasonal or project-based fluctuations in staffing will now have the agility needed to add employees to their payroll systems swiftly.
