Xero has started rolling out their new look Xero dashboard and it certainly does look a little different. They're putting a lot of work into upgrading their accounting platform and these changes are pretty relevant ...
The new look Xero dashboard will we rolling out to you soon!
It's the philosophy of most tech companies. You change your phone every couple of years and software is the same to ensure best practice for their client's businesses. Functionality doesn't change, just some tweaks to the design of the Xero dashboard.
As with all software changes, being forewarned means you can adjust to the changes better, however, Xero says the new dashboard version improves speed and accessibility as well as offering a more consistent experience across the whole platform.
So, what's changed?
Introduction of a new 'hide', button instead of the old 'x', button on the introduction and welcome banners, which will run across the top of the screen
The 'edit', 'save' and 'cancel', buttons will be located in the top-right corner of your screen, instead of the bottom
If you're an accountant or bookkeeper, you will notice new names and descriptions for each widget when setting up a Xero account for the first time
A new colour strip on the information panel below widgets will help you understand what step to take next (orange strip) or any errors (red strip) at a glance
When editing your dashboard, you'll be able to select or unselect a 'show' checkbox, instead of clicking the 'hide', button
The drag icon will be at the bottom of the widget instead of the top, and there'll be a yellow placeholder that will appear when you move widgets, so you can see the location more clearly
After seeing the new Xero dashboard, I feel very positive about the redesign and they've had a lot of good feedback from other bookkeepers and accountants who've tested it too.
I'll keep you informed on any other significant news about these changes that I receive, but do look out for the new Xero dashboard and let me know when you get it yourself and may need a handholding session to find your way around.
Until next time ...
ALISON MEAD
