While I'm certainly going to allow myself a little celebration, maintaining Xero certification for bookkeepers is about much more than having another certificate to display. For me, it's about demonstrating that the knowledge I use to support clients and fellow bookkeepers remains current, tested and recognised ...
Xero Certification renewed! Proud to have passed my level 2 exam for another year
I think Xero certification for bookkeepers is particularly important because the software we use every day continues to develop. Clients rely on us to know how to use Xero properly, identify problems and find more efficient ways of managing their bookkeeping.
Certification provides an opportunity to test that knowledge!
Xero offers two certification levels. Level 1 covers the foundations of working with Xero, while Level 2 goes considerably further, including sales and purchases, bank reconciliation, adjustments, correcting errors, reporting and monitoring business performance.
For bookkeepers, achieving Xero certification gives their clients additional reassurance that the person looking after their accounts has demonstrated a comprehensive understanding of the platform. It can also help bookkeepers identify gaps in their own knowledge and discover features that could make their work more efficient.
Importantly, certification isn't something you achieve once and then forget about. Xero certification needs to be renewed every 12 months. I actually see that as a positive because bookkeeping technology changes quickly, and keeping our knowledge current should be part of providing a professional service.
There are different ways to become certified, too!
Xero provides self-paced learning, live webinar training and, for experienced users who already know the platform well, an assessment-only route. Xero certification for bookkeepers is also free, so there really is very little reason not to invest the time in developing and demonstrating your Xero skills.
And if you're a bookkeeper wondering where to start, how certification could benefit your business or how to put your growing Xero knowledge into practice, you don't have to figure everything out alone.
Through my Bookkeeping Buddies subscription, I help bookkeepers develop their skills, tackle the practical challenges that come with running a bookkeeping business and have someone experienced to turn to when questions arise.
Xero certification for bookkeepers is a great way to demonstrate your technical knowledge, and having ongoing support can help you turn that knowledge into an even better service for your clients.
And yes, I'll be proudly displaying my new certificate for another year!
If anything I've written in this blog post resonates with you and you'd like to discover more about Xero Certification, it may be a great idea to give me a call on 01604 420057 and let's see how I can help you.
