Due to developer fee increases ...

Recently, I was informed that Sage has significantly increased its annual developer fees and this eye-watering increase has meant Adept has had to implement some changes to its annual license fees ...

First, I must emphasise that version upgrades for Adept add-ons are no longer available. This means that if you were hoping to receive new features and enhancements through a version update, those plans must be adjusted.

"Instead, all licenses will now be required to adhere to an Annual License Renewal fee structure!"

Adept's Annual License Renewal upgrades are now set at 20% of the current Recommended Retail Price (RRP) of the add-ons. This renewal will effectively extend your license for an additional year based on the current expiry date. It's crucial to keep this in mind when planning your budget for the upcoming year.

Additionally, for clients who may have let their licenses lapse, there's a new option on the table: License Reactivation upgrades. If your license has been expired for over a year, you will now have the opportunity to reactivate it.

This will cost you 40% of the current RRP of the add-on, and it will reset your expiry date to one year in the future. It's an option for those who want to reinstate their access without starting anew, though it does come with a higher price tag compared to routine renewals.

These adjustments are necessary to keep pace with Sage's 1000% increase in developer fees. Adept used to pay a reasonable £1,250 and now it's a staggering £15,000 per annum. You can see why they've had to rethink their pricing!

I understand price changes can be challenging for businesses, particularly in a time when budgets are already stretched. However, it's crucial to note that these fees are reflective of the increased costs of maintaining and developing the Adept add-ons that enhance your bookkeeping tasks.

As your Bookkeeper Trainer, I want to ensure you have all the information needed to navigate these changes with minimal disruption. Staying compatible with Sage and maximising the use of Adept's features will be paramount to your efficiency and success as a bookkeeper going forward. A significant shift like this can be a burden, but it serves as a reminder of the importance of adaptability in our industry.

"Be sure to review your current licenses and budget accordingly!"

As these adjustments come into effect do reach out if you need advice and assistance. Together, we can navigate this transitional period so that you can continue to benefit from the remarkable capabilities provided by Adept.

Until next time ...
