I've been using Xero classic invoicing for so long and find it really easy, but like all bookkeepers, I'm sure I'll get used to the new version!
But don't worry, a new and improved version is already available for you and your clients to use. Although I'm not sure I like it that much right now, change is inevitable so I'm sure we'll all get used to it.
Why is Xero retiring Classic Invoicing?
As technology and business needs evolve, software providers need to keep up with the changes. Xero's classic invoicing solution has served its purpose well, but it's time for an upgrade.
The new version of invoicing is packed with time-saving tools and a modern interface that is designed to help you move faster and simplify the way you get paid. Additionally, all new functionality will be built into the new version, making it the go-to solution for invoicing in Xero.
When is the retirement happening?
Xero has announced that the retirement of classic invoicing will take place on the 2nd of September 2024 at 9am NZT. This gives you plenty of time to make the switch and get familiar with the new version. However, it's recommended to make the switch sooner rather than later to avoid any potential disruptions in your invoicing process.
What is the new version of invoicing?
The new version of invoicing is a modern and user-friendly solution that is designed to make invoicing faster and easier, says Xero. It has all the features you know and love from classic invoicing, but with added functionality and a more intuitive interface. All your settings and invoice templates will seamlessly carry over, making the transition to the new version a breeze.
How do you make the switch?
If you haven't already, you can make the switch to the new version of invoicing by clicking on the 'switch to new version', button in classic invoicing. You can also switch back to classic invoicing until it's retired, giving you the flexibility to choose which version works best for you. Xero also offers helpful resources and support to guide you through the transition process.
What features can you expect in the new version?
Xero is continuously working on adding new features to the new version of invoicing. Before the retirement of classic invoicing, they will be incorporating many of the features that are currently available in classic invoicing, such as the ability to copy invoices to other documents, create overpayments, and view detailed history and notes.
Additionally, there will be exclusive features in the new version, including more flexible invoice customisation tools, improved email templates for faster payments, and an easier way to personalise payment methods directly from your invoice.
Why should you make the switch now?
Making the switch to the new version of invoicing now will ensure that you and your clients are ahead of the game. You'll have access to the latest and greatest features and a more streamlined invoicing experience. Plus, by familiarising yourself with the new version early on, you'll have plenty of time to adjust and get comfortable with the new interface.
Xero say its retirement of classic invoicing is a positive step towards a more efficient and user-friendly invoicing experience. By making the switch to the new version now, you'll be ahead of the game and well-prepared for the retirement of classic invoicing in 2024.
