2020 is nearly over, and many will have a sharp intake of breath when they finally get around to doing their tax return. It's something all of us try to put off until the very last minute, with some only just filing before the 31st of January deadline ...

Thinking about not having done your tax return earlier will prey on your mind over Christmas. You knew all through the holidays there was something you had to do, but you'd just put it off and off. Wouldn't you rather have a carefree Christmas next year?
Why not try something a little different next year? Did you know you can submit your tax return anytime after 6th April? You don't need to wait for January 2022! Radical I know, but it's true.
So, what do you need to do so you can submit your tax return in plenty of time? You'll know what your tax bill will be, and you can prepare and save up for it! You don't have to pay your tax any earlier, just be prepared, so you don't get any nasty surprises.
You need to get organised and just do it! It's so much easier if you keep good records as you go along rather than saving up all those pesky receipts and bashing them all into your accounting package (or Excel) months after your tax year has ended.
You are less likely to miss reclaiming for valid expenses, and much more likely not to forget to declare all your income when you become a better bookkeeper for your business.
