I know there are still people doing bookkeeping on very old Sage desktop software. This week we were asked to upgrade one ...
When I started working in Sage, many years ago, the version I first worked on was version 2, and I did a lot of helping people move from DOS to Windows!
So they had no idea how old this data was, and it turns out it was older than they thought! It was from Version 9, all the way back from 2003. Can you imagine? Brexit wasn't even a word back then!
Now if you take a look at Sage's conversion matrix, you will see that Sage could only jump a maximum of 5 versions in one go, although the more modern versions do allow for bigger jumps since they moved to a subscription-based service.
We were able to bring this V9 data up-to-data via 2 older versions. From V9 to V12 (2007) then to V18 (2012) to V25 which is the current version the accountant was using.
So if you are an accountant or bookkeeper or even a business owner who is still using a very old version of Sage desktop software or has clients using it then we can help you when you need to bring it up to date. I do have clients using old versions of Sage still and using a bridging solution for Making Tax Digital, but this will not always be possible.
